Simpson Architecture
Founded in March 2023, Simpson Architecture was established by Justin during his Architectural Technology studies at Georgian College, with a vision to deliver innovative, high-quality architectural solutions.
In a short time, the firm has completed and permitted over 100 projects, supported by a skilled team of designers, an in-house engineer, and a trusted network of consultants.
We specialize in custom residential and commercial design, combining creativity, functionality, and sustainability. Our client-centered approach ensures every project is collaborative, precise, and tailored to your goals.

What is the process for starting a project?
Our process typically involves the following steps:
- Free Initial Consultation: We discuss your project goals, timeline, and budget. Our initial consultations are free up to 30kms of our office in East Gwillimbury.
- Send Quote: We send out a quote based on scope of work and the project challenges. With the quote, we send out our contract to be signed.
- Site Measurements: We visit the site to gather measurements with our Iguide camera and understand site conditions.
- Concept Design: We create preliminary design concepts based on your vision and requirements.
- Design Development: We refine the design, incorporating feedback and ensuring compliance with local building codes.
- Permit Drawings: We prepare and submit the required documentation for permits.
- Construction Support: We provide ongoing support during construction as needed.
How long does the design and permit process take?
Timelines vary based on project size and complexity. On average:
- Small renovations: 4-8 weeks for design, plus 4-8 weeks for permit approval.
- Custom homes: 6-12 weeks for design, plus 8-12 weeks for permit approval.
We work efficiently while maintaining attention to detail and keeping you updated throughout the process. Times also change based on customer responsiveness and sub-contractors (HVAC, Civil, Septic, Engineers, Etc.).
Do you handle permit applications?
Yes, we manage the entire permit application process on your behalf, including preparing the required drawings, submitting applications, and coordinating with municipal authorities to streamline approvals. Our permit process is a flat rate of $350.00.
What areas do you serve?
We primarily serve Ontario, including the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Georgina, Kawartha Lakes, Barrie and surrounding regions. For projects outside this area, please contact us to discuss feasibility. Initial Consultations are free up to 30kms of our home office in East Gwillimbury.
What are your fees?
Our fees start at $2,000.00 and a flat rate of $350.00 for permits. Our fees depend on the scope and complexity of the project. We offer transparent pricing and provide a detailed proposal after the initial consultation. We are also proud to offer unlimited design revisions, once structural design commences, design revisions (depending on size) are charged at an hourly rate. Contact us for a personalized quote.
Can you work with my contractor?
We are happy to collaborate with your chosen contractor. We also offer a tradelist through partnerships with trusted general contractors and subcontractors to deliver a seamless experience. We encourage every contractor to get a minimum of 3 bids per scope of work to get the ultimate best price.
Do you offer 3D renderings?
Yes, we provide 3D modeling and visualizations to help you better understand the design and make informed decisions. We do have to make the model first before we can do a rendering.
How involved can I be in the design process?
We encourage client involvement! Your feedback is essential, and we offer regular design reviews to ensure the project aligns with your vision. We also provide clear communication throughout each stage. We have a form that we hand out to our clients (depending on the project) that highlights their design style, and we also get them to include photos to narrow in on their design ideas before we start.
